Ha Long Bay
Ha Long Bay is Vietnam’s most famous seascape: almost 2,000 limestone islands and pillars rising from emerald water in the Gulf of Tonkin, listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Its southern edge flows directly into Lan Ha Bay and the Cat Ba Archipelago, so from Cat Ba Island you can explore both bays in a single trip.
From our base in Cat Ba Town we run day cruises that sail through Cai Beo floating village into the quieter corners of Ha Long Bay, with kayaking around Dark & Bright Cave, swimming at small beaches and lunch on board. For more comfort, our luxury cruise tours leave from Tuan Chau Harbour with a seafood buffet, cooking class and sunset party, then continue to Cat Ba Island for the night.
Best time to visit: March to May and September to November bring calm water and clear skies; June to August is hot and great for swimming, while December to February is cooler and misty. Getting there: about 2.5–3 hours by road from Hanoi, with hotel pickup included on most of our tours.
Ha Long Bay tours with a local Cat Ba team
Ha Long Bay's southern islands meet Lan Ha Bay right next to Cat Ba Island, so you do not need to start in busy Ha Long City to see them. Our tours either sail from Cat Ba into the quieter corners of Ha Long Bay, or start from Tuan Chau Harbour on a luxury day cruise and finish on Cat Ba Island.

Ha Long Bay or Lan Ha Bay?
Ha Long Bay is larger and home to the most famous caves and islets, but it is also the busiest. Lan Ha Bay has the same scenery with fewer boats, better kayaking and small beaches. Our tours combine both, so you see the highlights without the crowds.
Getting there and best time to visit
Tuan Chau Harbour is about 2.5 hours from Hanoi by expressway; Cat Ba is about 3–3.5 hours. All our Hanoi tours include pickup in the Old Quarter. March–May and September–November are the best months; June–August is hot and good for swimming, and winter is cool and misty. Cruises are cancelled by the authorities in storms, and you then receive a new date or a full refund.
